I spent the evening installing new light switches and sockets in a newly renovated room. I installed some new outlets including arc outlets, USB plugs and of course regular outlets that are just switches. The Legrand Radiant USB GFCI socket is advertised as being easy to install, but I found it a bit more difficult than some of the other GFCI or even AFCI sockets I've installed. five wires to the outlet (ground, hot and neutral from the junction box, and then hot and neutral from a nearby outlet in the room). I found it difficult to connect the ground because it is at the bottom of the outlet and you have to deal with gravity if you want to lower the plate where you want the wire to go. The screws were a bit tight and while the job went well, it took a little longer than I expected. All other sockets and even the 4 position switch I installed were faster (all Legrand too). After I was done I tested GFCI and everything looked great. The outlet is somewhat resistant to plug insertion, like some tamper-resistant switches. Some are smooth and some are nightmares. This exit slopes towards the middle. You know it has an anti-tamper feature due to the plug's insertion resistance, but that doesn't fight you too much. I really like the combination of GFCI and USB sockets. This ran outside next to the door so it's good to know that we have ground fault protection for the outlet and everything downstream. And near the door it's good to have USB ports for electronic devices that can be charged on the table by the door so they're ready to go.
