Not waterproof at all.

Ok I really liked this canopy. On first unboxing I was impressed with the strength of the fiberglass poles with elastic, the size of the canopy was perfect for my car and the fabric felt good. But then I actually set it up and tested it over the weekend. First, even though the product description says it offers "rain protection," it doesn't. The water fall has slowed, but that's it. The ground under the next tree was drier than the ground under this tarp. And it wasn't just the seams that were leaking, the water was clearly leaking through the entire fabric of the tarp. Even if the fabric were waterproof, the 'rear window' is only held 'closed' by 4 small patches of cheap Velcro - it opens at the slightest hint of a breeze from the other side. With the flap up, the rectangular opening is a mosquito net and is large enough to let through a lot of rain. Then, while the fiberglass chalk line poles for the canopy itself were sturdy and well fitted, the vertical poles for the two outer corners were cheap and didn't fit together well, leaving them flexible and zigzagging. They are also not height adjustable, so the height of the tarpaulin may not suit your vehicle or uneven terrain. (Note that this item's name includes the phrase "Off-Road Gear.") Finally, the included attachment system is a set of two bungee cords with plastic hooks on the ends and a center adjustment point. However, to fit the cables to your car, you can only adjust the center point, not the overall length. So if it's too long for your car, you'll need to tie loops somewhere to take up the sagging. If you purchase this item, you should bring your own set of adjustable bungee or cargo straps to attach to your vehicle. One of the plastic hooks on mine was broken, but that may have happened in transit, so it can't be the manufacturer's fault. Additional Note (1): This tarp is not symmetrical, ie although it is ten feet long, the center point is gone. to make room for the "window". This may not be an issue depending on how you install it in your car, but it's definitely something to find out at home before you head into the field for the first time. Additional Note (2): The included privacy screen is for the short (7ft) end of the dome only and is very lightweight with no top fasteners to bridge the gap between the top and side. Also, two guy wires are required from the vertical supports to support its sides, which would require the guy wires to be pulled straight parallel. But to make the canopy strong, you need the same braces on the corners. Oooooh, if you want to use this 'bonus' feature, you'll need to bring 2 extra stretchers and be prepared for a lot of pesky popps when it's windy. Bottom line, this item was sent back asap. There should be much better alternatives in this price range.
