Big size means I think it's a little bigger than stated. I've researched many different draft blocking solutions. You lit the fire, it's time for bed, the fire is out but not enough to silence the flu because it would fill the room with smoke. But you know that in an hour or two the fire will be dead cold, there will be a draft in the chimney, but you don't want to get up and then catch the flu. you need it for that! I looked at large sheets of steel and other things. It was the best choice because it's no hassle! It will fold together when I'm done with it. Other things would create a new problem of how and where to store them when not in use. I believe it has enough magnets to make a good seal. But you can always buy extra magnets if you want, but I doubt you'll need them. I'm glad I bought it and will use it forever.
