Since I don't see much of a difference between a (cleaned) 15 year old roller and this roller (bristles are about the same length and density), I have improved my expectations of the scaled down DC17 performance. Dude, I was surprised! A well-maintained vacuum cleaner moved over our Berber rug and rug much more easily, and the canister filled up (mostly dog hair) much faster than before. I also changed both filters. These updates make our Dyson dc17 brand new again! (4 stars for durability as I've only used it a couple of times).
