This is the best solution I have found to simplify changing the engine oil on my 2001 VW New Beetle 2.0L AEG. I bought this car used and it has been very well maintained. The only issue we encountered was a stripped thread on the aluminum oil pan drain. It was obvious that whoever had changed the oil for the previous owner had stretched the drain plug and stripped the threads. This situation could not be corrected with a tap as most of the aluminum thread material was completely gone. I installed a new oil pan and decided I didn't want to repeat this process again, so I installed this drain valve. It has an integrated O-ring to prevent oil leaks. I applied a thin coat of silicone o-ring lube to keep the o-ring from deforming when tightened. The EZ-106 uses a quarter-turn ball valve and a spring-loaded stopper to keep it closed when not changing the oil. No leaks! It works as advertised. I am very happy with this purchase.
