I bought this item based on the reviews that it's a strong magnet that can hold the door from wind etc anywhere. This is a FALSE claim. I set this up on the floor (the top is only 3 inches off the floor) and attached the magnetic piece to my metal security door. I literally spent hours tweaking it and trying to get the magnet to keep the door open but to no avail. I ended up adding a stronger magnet on the outside and it holds the door under normal conditions (see image). It's also true that the door won't hold unless you carefully slide it all the way open; it just bounces off. This is another sign of a weak magnet as it should grab quickly if strong enough. The attached magnet was held between two pieces of non-magnetic metal; which had no effect on him other than giving the right depth for the quill to work. The magnet eventually broke in my hand after trying to adjust it to get a better grip. The overall height of the floor mount is only 3 inches. I needed a little more height. However, it didn't seem to matter when it came to keeping the door open. In my opinion it was an epic failure.
