I prefer this pump when I only have a small number of desoldering pads. I like the metal construction. The button can be easily operated with one hand. It worked well for siphoning solder off circuit boards. It's becoming my favorite tool when working on new projects. I also have a cheap demolition station and a good Hakko pistol. However, on my new projects, there may be a bridge or part in the wrong place. It's really not worth using powerful teardown devices for a quick fix or two. I always have a wick to hand, but I also find the Weller pump very practical. It works well on through hole components. This would be a good second choice if a more expensive demolition station is out of your budget. It's been holding up well for several months now.
