Desoldering pump good enough but replacement tips are CRAZY EXPENSIVE!

The desolderer worked quite well. I've been working on two small circuit boards, collecting parts and adding them to my inventory. The only real problem I had was with the pump tip. I had to heat the solder joints of the board and sometimes hold the soldering iron to the solder joint and suck the solder out with a pump. Needless to say, the heat started to deform the pump tip. This reduced the efficiency of the pump (because the tip was deformed). And the replacement pump heads are INCREDIBLYโ€ฆ

Good build quality, good suction power, solder sticks in the nozzle

When I took the suction cup out of the packaging, it made a very solid and well-made impression. The suction power was good enough, but a little more wouldn't hurt. The only downside to this suction cup was that the solder would get stuck in the nozzle. It would not be sucked into the barrel. Pulling it out of the nozzle wasn't difficult - a few clicks and it comes out. I only expected to have to empty the barrel after many sucks, not after every suck. Generally good quality. I would recommendโ€ฆ

I'm surprised I found this. I had one many years ago and after a lot of use I managed to break the tip. But if you find this one on Amazon, direct exact replacement. I've used it on wires, circuit boards, removing components, etc. It works great without electricity, and often you don't even need to use a wick or wicking tool to remove excess material. Hold the tip very close also to what you have soldered (melted) and press the button, the suction pulls out all the solder. double-click toโ€ฆ

Love the metal construction

I prefer this pump when I only have a small number of desoldering pads. I like the metal construction. The button can be easily operated with one hand. It worked well for siphoning solder off circuit boards. It's becoming my favorite tool when working on new projects. I also have a cheap demolition station and a good Hakko pistol. However, on my new projects, there may be a bridge or part in the wrong place. It's really not worth using powerful teardown devices for a quick fix or two. I alwaysโ€ฆ

Not for key switches

In short, if you're trying to desolder MECHANICAL KEY SWITCHES, save some money and buy an Engineer sucker instead. It will not work. The plastic tip is too big and heavy to desolder the keyboard board. There is always a gap between the tip and the solder, so when you let go of the plunge tool, air will get in and there will still be plenty of solder in the through hole. I tried covering the entire switch contact with the tip, but the metal pin in the tip connected to the plunger (to cleanโ€ฆ
