I used this galvanized mesh to cover one of the vents in my attic. It came rolled pretty tightly so I spread it out first & tried to smash the curl out of it. In all of the handling, none of the welds came loose. The mesh cut easily with just regular side cutters. I used stainless screws & washers to attach the mesh directly to the vent.I wish I had made a template out of cardboard & cut it first rather than trying to do it in the attic. 40x100cm sounded like a lot but it's really 16x40 American Freedom Units & my gable vent was much bigger. I used the trimmed pieces to fill the gap but with more planning I could have covered the whole thing in 2 pieces & it would have looked a lot better.The neighborhood where I bought my house has a tree rat problem & this house had a previous infestation. The previous owner spent a small fortune eradicating them & I spent a large fortune fixing the damage. Therefore I was shocked to find that the attic vents, where they were almost certainly getting in, were wide open. there had been a fine screen over them but it was almost completely gone. This mesh is pretty stiff & I don't think that the rats can get past it.
