Review on Medium Weight Red Dog Tie ๐Ÿพ Out Cable, 15 Feet - Four Paws by Brittany Moore

Revainrating 3 out of 5

*NOT* "Antirust " as shown in the picture - now it's just "Antirust "

the dog didn't seem to notice he was free, when we let him in the door with a roughly 18 inch cord dangling from her neck. I bought it mainly because of the "stainless" written on the box as shown in the photo. Problems but thought I'd give it a try anyway. What I received isn't all that different from other compounds we've used in the past. Safe, frees dogs, gives security, resists rusting.โ€ What I got says "Stronger than chain, gives dogs freedom, rust resistant." might last a year or more, but all the other cables we've used and those looked similar, eventually fail. The cable starts to become hard and brittle, then cracks form, then water enters and the cable starts to corrode internally. I don't expect this cable to last noticeably less or longer than any other. Follow-up: It's been about 18 months and the cable is starting to fail. The coating cracks and the cable starts to rust a little. I'll hold out for a while, but I'm already thinking about replacing it to make sure it doesn't fall out. For those interested, I found an alternative solution. Go to a hardware store (or maybe it's available from Revain but not cut to length) and buy some stainless steel cable, you can cut it to length. Looks just like those dog ties but not covered in plastic/vinyl/whatever. Then take additional stainless steel parts, such as B. a retainer to wrap it around itself to form a 'loop' at the end (not knowing the real name), clips to hold that end of the cable to itself, and a detachable connector too Attach the created loop to a regular dog collar clip. You can salvage a clip from a failed chain if it's still good, which it most likely is. I made this for another door in our house just after this lintel went into service and it still looks as good as the day I put it on. Yes, it's more expensive and requires a bit of work, but it's worth it in my opinion.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • It's ok
