Review on Dorman 911 205 EGR Valve by Matt Woodward

defect out of the box

defect. Although this part is difficult to disassemble and install on my Jeep (GC 5.7L), it would be better if it worked the first time. The part was defective from the start, causing half a dozen false trouble codes and had to be towed when the car went into emergency mode. I did my best with a voltmeter to test it before installing. It failed within two days of installation. I did not return the item because what is the point. After all that was said and done, the EGR replacement cost me about $350 (including $30 or whatever for that part and $50 for the new part). This does NOT involve the work of disassembling and reassembling to remove and replace the part (although it's MUCH faster the second time around). I would be MUCH better with the OEM part initially. I own shares in Dorman because I think it's a good company otherwise. But I will no longer buy critical engine parts from them.
