Let me start by saying that I would like to give it 3.5 stars. It's better than just 'good', but there's plenty of room for improvement. Overall I would buy it again! Pros: Very cute. Well done. Acorns open and close easily. The box makes it easy to store as long as I don't let my little one handle it roughly like kids often do. The parts of the object are very cute for the most part, I love their texture and it arrived quickly and in good condition, as expected, nothing was missing. Cons: 1. Purple letters are almost invisible on brown plastic. how hard to see I have 3 windows in my living room and I have no problem using natural light during the day. It's not the brightest lighting, but I never try to see what it was like with those purple letters. Purple is so similar to brown that it sounds odd, but they just blend together. Unless the acorns are tilted towards the light. Sitting upright on its pedestal, I struggled to locate the purple letters on the acorns. I don't recall mentioning this issue in the reviews I read before purchasing, but it is a legitimate/vexing issue and should be addressed by the manufacturer at some point. 2. I want the letters W and M not to be the same color. One of the great things about the game is that the tips/colors of the acorns are clues for toddlers to narrow down the possibilities of finding matching object shapes. Example: the orange queen is a bit ambiguous and could also be a king, but the K acorn has a purple tip, meaning it matches the purple piece, and the Q is orange! So this is clearly a queen. Awesome!) So. the letters W and M confuse my little one. (This also applies to N and Z. In both cases it's easy to make a mistake as they're very similar in shape, it's just a matter of which direction they're facing.) Green M and green acorn W are a bit confusing when looking for a whale's home. Makes sense right? If we had a red M and a green W, there would be less room for confusion (and this is another opportunity for you to see that M and W, although somewhat similar, are two completely different letters and are not interchangeable, as they appear). in this game.) 3. (This is not a problem, more of a wish list :) I agree with other reviewers, there are a few weird options in some parts of the item as mentioned in previous reviews. Example: Koala Bear for K. I agree that the "dragon" would be easier to spot since koalas are not that common and this tiny, monochromatic character looks like a mouse. Speaking of mouse. I would recommend the current mittens with the letter M. Sailboat with the letter B? E I think? Personally, I would take the little bear. Maybe a lion for L instead of a hand which I at first stared at in amazement thinking it was a spade (like playing cards lol) my husband couldn't guess either until I told him. To be fair when you receive an unopened set, the pieces are grouped in plastic bags, not with matching acorns, so it's a guessing game you're arranging for the first time.) There are a few others that are difficult to understand or to win are It's not your first association, but overall it's functional and overall very cute. Final note: the smell people were talking about. yes it is there It's like a subtle, slightly stinky smell that I don't find too bad. Cat urine is way worse than anyone mentioned. I don't understand from this particular package. And he wasn't so strong in attack that we couldn't enjoy the game. In fact, my husband didn't notice at all. I probably knew because I purposely sniffed it after reading the reviewers' warnings. In any case. Hope this will one day help the manufacturer for potential improvements. It's really very cute and I want to give it 5 stars but it's not quite right.
