Review on Advanced Mapping Solutions with Southwire M400TP Professional Mapper by Original Mansel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to test like a mod tap tester with 2 AAA batteries

on some tint sticks. It identifies opens, shorts, taps, miswires (reverse and crossed), short to shield, properly connected crossover cables and voltage warnings. Nice addition. There is also a tinting feature that allows you to tint single conductors, single pairs, and all conductors at once. Note: The toning stick is NOT included. Excellent instructions provided. There is a 2-year guarantee in the papers. The brown sheath has a slightly rubbery feel and fits easily in the palm of your hand with room for your tool bag. The cable tester's top RJ-45 port has a dust/rain cap to prevent unwanted objects from entering this area. No expensive button cell batteries required like some other testers. It comes with two AAA batteries. The screen is also backlit for testing in dark cabinets or under tables. Suggestion to the Southwire team: for a future design change, maybe remove the mode button so you can't accidentally press it while in your pocket, and maybe a small microfiber pouch to cover the plastic screen while in your work bag condition. All in all a really good compact continuity tester with great features. Don't change other things with this design, it's close to perfect.

Pros
  • Connector cover protects the RJ45 connector from dust and dirt
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
