Look, that's a $28 keyboard, not $100. Let's not expect miracles from him. The board is very quiet. I had an old Dell keyboard (it had millions of DNA cells in it and was making me sick) that I was replacing. This board was very loud when I was typing. The thing is much quieter. So if you're on the phone with someone who puts you to sleep with their story, they MAY NOT be aware that you're typing all the time. But it is not a SILENT keyboard. I'm curious to see what the keys will look like in the long run. The keys seem to have a tendency to chip letters over time. However, this is just a guess based on the architecture and the look of the keys. Just take a look. All in all, a solid $28 keyboard. If you don't like the rainbow lights on your keyboard, you can easily dim the lights or turn them off altogether. Just press Fn and then Page Up (to lighten) or Page Down to darken. The keyboard has 12 multimedia shortcut keys: FN+F1=Multimedia FN+F2=Volume -FN+F3=Volume + FN+F4=Mute FN+F5=Stop FN+F6=Recent Track FN+F7=Play/Pause FN+ F8=next title FN+F9=Mail FN+F10=Web/Homepage FN+F11=My Computer FN+F12=Calculator
