So you know right away it's made in China. The instructions are micro-fine printed and printed in hard-to-understand broken English, as well as several other languages. Yes, it's plug and play, but you need software to play music or movies. VLC Media Player was free, as was Real Player and Windows Media Player. I have all 3. So I copied music to my MP3 player and laptop hard drive. Can't play movies yet. I have NERO for burning CDs and DVDs. Nero doesn't work with it, like my old tower, I've tried several other burners to create a CD, doesn't work. I think I'm doing something wrong, although it says the program must be running on Windows 7 for this to work. So the player might be brand new but outdated for Windows 7. I'm glad it wasn't XP, don't wait. My old tower is XP and it works great (offline). Face palm that I could just use. This is normal for a laptop.
