Not exactly "watercolor " Sketchbook

I wouldn't call this album "watercolor" for drawing because the paper for watercolor is of poor quality. Even with a light glaze, the paper fibers opened up and the paper dried very wavy. I'm a little disappointed as I was looking for a sketchbook specifically for watercolors. Still, I gave 4 stars because it's still a nice little sketchbook. The cover design is beautiful (I bought the red peony drawing) and the paper is still good enough for ink illustration and seems to handle gouache well. For gouache I recommend using thicker layers and not too much water. I don't really recommend drawing with a pencil unless you want to erase something (paper tears easily). I would say that this sketchbook is a good and cheaper alternative to Moleskine. The paper is a bit thinner (but Moleskine isn't the best for watercolors either), you get more magazine sheets, a nice cover, a pen/pen/brush holder at the top, and it has a cute little pocket on the back. I'm still looking for the perfect watercolor sketchbook but I'm sure this one will find a use for gouache and ink :) β€” Amanda / @ginkgojulep on Instagram
