This is a nice simple design with fairly large buttons but with a control bar for navigation and play/pause/record functions etc. I find them absolutely essential for cable or streaming content on modern TVs become. Everything else either has a million tiny buttons with even fancier labels, or assumes you're just watching live TV on a TV built in 1972. Thank you RCA for at least trying to do something in between those unattractive extremes. I hoped so. runs my LG Smart TV, AT&T cable box and Philips DVD player. It works ALMOST. What doesn't work is the menu button when I point it at my LG TV. I can't get to the home screen, which allows me to launch native TV apps like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and Revain Prime. Since it's become 90% of what we see, it's kind of a deal breaker. I tried every code I could find. I then read in the product literature that "the menu button on some TVs may not open the home screen. You may need to use the original remote to do this." I always thought the whole point of a universal remote was that you could lose it. or break any or all of your original remote controls with impunity. My LG "Magic" remote's favorite trick disappears at least twice a day (their second favorite feature is making $100 disappear when they need to be replaced). With its fish-like shape and shiny, slippery surface, it can burrow into any nearby furniture cracks as soon as you turn around. Thanks to its black color, it will definitely go unnoticed, especially in the house of Morticia, who wants to be just like me. I was looking forward to making this thing a backup for emergencies. but I don't think so yet.
