You get what you pay for. This is my second set of hooks from this brand, the first one still works great but this new set is pretty mediocre. The rubber connecting holes aren't big enough for the screws so I have to hammer them in, it also makes it difficult to lock them in the metal holes because the rubber doesn't allow the screws to move very easily. . I have a screw that is completely stuck in the rubber and I can't even close it. There are lock nuts for the bolts connecting the two halves of the hook, they seem to work fine. Nuts for attaching hooks to crossbars are completely useless. Out of the 8 standard nuts only 2 really fit the bolts, they don't have the right threads so I have to go to the hardware store to find the right ones. The more serious issue is that 4 out of 8 plastic hand screws to connect them to the crossbars have plastic molded into the threads and are completely unusable. After using these hooks last year I was so happy I wanted a second set for our other car but now they are more of a hassle than they should be and I can't fit them to my car without all new ones to buy parts. Just be prepared to buy a bunch of new hardware to get them working.
