I live in an old semi-detached house that had a few electrical upgrades about 20 years ago but kept some of the original sockets and wiring intact (not less in the kitchen!). So I converted one of the old plugs into a modern three prong plug and "borrowed" the bottom from a new 4 foot socket for a new plug for the microwave. This wire is very stiff so it can be laid in a straight line with a few plastic wall studs. The socket tester now shows a solid ground and it's an isolated line so I'm a happy customer! There is another old plug in the bedroom that I am planning to replace with a newer AC plug about 10 feet away to use for the laptop plug. (Unfortunately, there is no attic access in these areas, so indoor runs must be done.)
