The working end of this piston sticks in the retracted position. You press, the cup collapses as it should, but stays folded. Then you need to figure out how to reset it. I decided to reset it by resting the top of the plunger cup against the rim of the cup and pulling it back. It then bounces back and squirts all the water (and whatever meanness is in that water) on you and everything around you in the bathroom. Get ready to shower or at least change your clothes after using this plunger. I'm glad I didn't throw away the old wooden grip butt from the 70's. No need to shower after using it!
