I bought it at one time (October 2022) for the D700, as the main zoom "for all occasions" when traveling. But I did not expect that in the process of use it would become a staff member. I'll try to explain why. My copy has a very smooth "behavior" in terms of sharpness / color in almost the entire range of focal lengths and at all apertures. It draws low-contrast details quite softly, as if blurring them - small skin errors, for example, in portraits - where my 105/2 cuts with a razor and you must then process the image as needed. At the same time, the detailing of all kinds of grass-flowers-cobwebs remains at a very good level. Bokeh, again - against expectations, it is very soft and much more pleasant than the 24-70. Well, and, besides, the glass has a very good far zone - at 300 it is excellent: sharp, clean, transparent. After the sale of the D700, he switched to the D4, and the general impressions have not changed - the glass is very decent. As an indispensable regular lens for travel, I recommend it with pleasure.
