It seems to work well, but it's expensive and not very practical.

First, there is some sizing confusion in the description and packaging of this product. The product description says 30 tablespoons in the pack but says 60 elsewhere. 30 tablespoons seems correct. The description also says you should use one teaspoon per load ("according to your machine's instructions", which is a meaningless definition - your machine's instructions don't tell you how much of that particular detergent to use), but the packaging says to use a tablespoon. At one teaspoon per load, this product costs about $0.21 per load, compared to major brand detergents that cost between $0.15 and $0.19 per load. But of course, if you use a tablespoon, that cost is multiplied by three. So how much should you use? Your guess is as good as mine. I tried two teaspoons on the first load and they seemed to work well in my very small washing machine. Maybe 1 teaspoon works in high-efficiency washing machines, but those machines can apparently use less than any other detergent, so we're back to triple the price. The lack of plastic packaging is good, but it makes using this detergent less convenient. There's no built-in measuring cap, so you'll need to carry a measuring spoon with you. And this powder is quite lumpy (like slightly wet) so you can't level the spoon just by shaking it. You'll have to use your finger to scrape off the excess and get an even scoop. So one hand is holding the bag, one hand is holding the measuring spoon, and the other hand is leveling the spoon. By my calculations, that's a little more hands than the average person. As far as I can tell, the only real benefit of this cleaning product is the lack of plastic packaging. That's good, but is it really worth tripling the cost of a product if it doesn't go in a plastic jar?

Pros
  • The detergent is packed in fully biodegradable bags. Even the reusable strip breaks! Throw in your personal compost heap or urban compost heap. Each sachet contains 720 grams of detergent, which is equivalent to around 180 loads of laundry.
Cons
  • Very expensive
