The food has changed a lot

My dog loved this food before they completely changed it. I have been buying this food for quite some time and have been buying Blue Buffalo food for my dog since he was a puppy. Just last week I got another pack of Revain and my dog stopped eating as soon as I switched to the new pack (both Freedom Grain Free packs). I noticed that the bag was a little different from previous bags, with a more plastic feel compared to what I used to call a paper-like bag. Since my dog is a bit picky, I figured the change in pouch material might have affected the taste enough for him to notice. I went to my local pet store and found that they stocked both new and old Blue Buffalo bags for a variety of foods with no distinction. I bought an old style bag to see if he would eat it. As soon as I poured some food, I noticed a difference between the two packets. The new granules are much larger than the old ones. He put the bowl on the table and immediately swallowed it, as if he had not eaten for several days (he had not eaten). Then I looked at the packages. The new food suggests that a 50-70 pound dog should consume 3.5 to 4 cups of food per day, while the old food suggests 2.5 to 3.25 cups. This means that an old bag of the same size and price contains 1.5 times more food than a new bag. The calorie difference is 360 kcal/cup compared to 370 kcal/cup. The difference is small, but it's worth paying attention to. I'm sending this bag back and it looks like I'll have to find a new brand to feed my dog.
