This is worth a try if you're looking for a good sized, robust ferro rod. I got it for my camping gear and it was a good choice. The rod itself is very thick and strong, and the striker has nice sharp edges that create plenty of sparks. Before using it I was a little anxious that the striker might be too small for easy use, but I was wrong. And as I have giant hands no one else should have an issue with it either. I was even able to hand it to my not-quite five year old and he got it sparking without any trouble.
