I have had this machine since November 2015. The device works well, there were no particular problems with it. It's easy to install and set up. The instructions are very clear and precise. I found the support of the US Department of Defense worthy. My unit had a faulty suction cup mount, DOD sent me a replacement very quickly and the replacement worked perfectly. Only once did it lose traction and fall, but for the most part it seems to be holding up well. The device can get very hot during operation, I'm a little worried about what will happen when the hot summer rolls in. OK. When the device is cold, the GPS lock can last up to 30 seconds. When the device is warmed up, the GPS will be blocked for a few seconds. The only issue I've encountered so far is that the video resolution doesn't match all of the sample videos I watched before purchasing the device. For example, I can't read license plates as easily and clearly as in the example videos posted on Youtube and the DOD website of this machine. I'm not exactly sure why, I'm working in 1024 HD. I tried playback software for PC and Mac. The PC version worked much better than the Mac version. Playback was a bit choppy on Mac, but I think that's because I have an old Mac Book Pro that I run a lot of stuff on. My computer is newer and more powerful. Playing there was like watching a movie. The Mac software also has a small bug - speed is only displayed in kilometers per hour, even if the unit is set to miles per hour. This is on the software dashboard only, it will still show as mph in the video if the device is set up for it. This is a small bug and I'm sure they will fix it in the next version. The map functions work perfectly, you can turn the map on or off while watching a video. Update - 10/27/17 I have had this unit for almost 2 years. Overall he did a good job. However, I recently noticed a problem. The device records 3-5 minutes of video. I set it to 5 minutes. When the card is full, the device overwrites the oldest movie. If you have an accident or event while the camera is recording, press the "Emergency" button. This will mark the current video so it won't be overwritten. It's supposed to save it in a special directory called "RO" on the card so it doesn't get overwritten. You should also see a lock icon appear on the screen when you press the button. It doesn't work on my block. When I press the emergency button, no icon appears and the video is not saved in the RO directory, in fact no RO directory is created on the card when I view its content on my computer. I contacted DOD-TECH regarding this, they asked me to try a few things including downloading and installing the latest firmware. The function still doesn't work. I don't know how long this feature hasn't worked as I haven't tried it until recently. I contacted DOD-TECH and they responded to this issue very quickly. They let me try a few things to fix the problem including downloading the latest firmware and using a new micro SD card. Nothing fixed the problem. The camera was out of warranty but I could send it back for repair or they would offer me a new unit to replace if I sent it in even though the new camera was out of warranty as was the old one. . I decided to get a replacement block. They said they would send me a return authorization with credit card authorization for a new device. Update - 01/18/18 - I still have not received a return authorization or payment authorization from DOD Tech. I have contacted them twice in the last months but still no reply. Right now I think I'm stuck on this device. It still works fine except that the video cannot be blocked. If something happens I just need to be sure to upload the video before it gets overwritten.
