Honestly when I first heard about these devices I thought it was a scam. Well, as it turns out, the CarPlay API is "surprisingly easy to hack," as someone told me. With that, the CarlinKit CarPlay Key was probably born. I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new car stereo, so I planned to buy a cheap Android tablet and plug the CarlinKit into a USB OTG adapter. Dear reader, that worked wonderfully. Thanks to this awesome thing, I now have a jerky but useful CarPlay setup in my 2010 Honda Element. The developers who made the firmware and software for it I would like to get to know you personally out of purely technical interest. The specs say it draws 1 amp when the phone is plugged in, presumably for charging (it charges my iPhone slowly even when powered by the Kindle Fire). That means it drains the tablet's battery, but that's enough for me. I waited over a year after it came out to buy it but you have to do it now. It's bullshit, sure, but that's half the battle. That works great! after it came out to buy it, but you need to do it now. It's bullshit, sure, but that's half the battle. That works great! after it came out to buy it, but you need to do it now.
