It's vitamin C, no electrolytes

It's great that this product is carb-free but something else is missing. . . . electrolytes! It contains only traces of sodium, chloride, potassium and calcium, which are minerals that are very important to replenish when you sweat profusely during exercise. Basically, this product is a vitamin C supplement (167% DV) with a small amount of magnesium as those are the only two things it actually contains other than natural flavors. The amount of sodium in one serving (55 mg) is enough to replace what you would lose after about 7 minutes of sweating on average (500 mg of sodium per liter of sweat, the most conservative estimate is 1 liter of sweat per hour - see for yourself ). . And that's if you drink a full serving, and that's 16 ounces (a lot!). The taste isn't that bad, but I need something I can rely on to replace my electrolytes during a 6-8 hour bike ride and it's definitely not the thing. It's basically just expensive citric acid (vitamin C) powder. I am very disappointed and now need to find something else to make this work.

Pros
  • Contains all 6 electrolytes + supporting minerals, reduced sodium
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
