broken and very little guidance or product support

The flap just didn't work. There was no support, the remote component was unreliable, and I didn't get enough information about Flip to troubleshoot the issue myself. I am an independent contractor who has a client who recently "upgraded" their system, meaning some parts of their computing platform require Vista, some require XP. As a workaround to this situation, I bought a Belkin Flip so I can switch between Vista and XP computers (desktops). Installation was very easy and quick as it is essentially a splitter and requires very little explanation to install. After installation, the device did not want to switch between computers. When trying to figure out the problem, I quickly found that the instructions were useless, just a very small pamphlet with a few suggestions on how to connect the Flip. The troubleshooting website they direct you to has very little additional information. I suspect that Belkin's instructions to show how easy this device is to use are deliberately kept short, which pretty much backfires. Both my XP and Vista systems work with my monitor, keyboard and mouse so it's not a problem. However, the Flip may not have recognized the XP box - since the Flip is sold SPECIFICALLY so that you can leave your old computer plugged in while using your new computer, the fact that the Flip did not recognize the XP box is quite large. Problem. It's also possible that the problem was in the remote button, as the light on it never worked and the button was visibly rattling. While troubleshooting, I noticed that depending on which computer was connected to the Flip, the Flip's main unit was blinking green, amber, or solid green. Again, nothing in the instructions or on the website states what these ads mean.

  • Impressive
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was
