I got a new gateway/router for my home network and suddenly it couldn't see my printer even though I was wired to the router. What to do? Well my printer has a parallel port of an old Centronics printer so I thought why not connect the printer to the computer via the parallel port and then use it as a network printer? Of course, most computers don't have true parallel printer ports. (e.g. LPT1) is larger so I figured I could get a USB to Centronics cable. First, I tried Sabrent's USB to Centronics cable. It did not work. But not to despair, I sent this cable back and ordered this one, and voila! it worked. I was able to share the printer as a home network resource and now we can all use the printer again.
