Review on Chaco Womens ZX2 Classic W Black Women's Shoes ~ Athletic by Monica Satchell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Five stars for Z-Cloud, one star for straps

First, whoever invented Z-Cloud better get an award. Or at least a promotion. They take the supportive insole of the original Chaco and soften it in all the right places. In love with this insole! Too bad I didn't buy this model. I've never had a toe-strap Chaco and can't tell if it's the toe-strap itself (which seems to offer some security, if not comfort, out on the trails) or the flimsy dual straps, but I hate it. . I broke them within a week before taking them camping/hiking. They have been carried through the Linville Gorge, climbing waterfalls and falling rocks on fairly arduous trails (pictured). I have the hiking grip I expect from a Chaco on rocks and trails. BUT - I didn't bring an extra pair of shoes (the old ones weren't necessary) and when they got wet those little straps became a nightmare. They rubbed in a way that normal webbing would not tolerate, leaving small blisters between the toes and on the instep of the foot. No fun time when there's still a mile to go! I also wore them for a long day of regular walks and sightseeing and when my feet started to swell a bit at the end of the day (girls issue) the little straps cut into my foot and felt awful. I had to stop and unbuckle all my shoes to adjust everything. Admittedly, I bought these because they were cheap and I really wish I'd spent the extra thirty bucks on regular webbing. I will order Mega Z-Cloud and probably take it off for short walks and shopping trips.
