Review on SHIMANO Di2 Inline Wireless Unit by Josue Porter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An interesting idea spoiled by bad software that can block your shirts.

Has to be one of the worst purchases I've ever made. on both iOS and Windows. It obviously hasn't gone through any UX design and appears to have been put together by someone who has never attempted to create user-friendly software. The E-TUBE app attempts to automatically update the firmware of your Di2 components upon first connection. Unfortunately this seems to be unsuccessful and locks up your system for many people including myself. The only recovery method is to use their Windows-only software and a USB-A connection (no Mac software, nor does it work in virtualization). And if you can use that, you don't need a WiFi box, because your charger already acts as a connector for your computer. It was able to restore and update my Di2, but then refused to assign functions to the A buttons and didn't work. There's no way to set the shift speed faster, only slower (might work, but the software is terrible and the conditions are weird). So the WLAN box to the rescue. Slightly better UX and I was able to figure out how to adjust shift speed and assign rear gear up and down to my A buttons. Unfortunately this broke my Di2 again but this time even their Windows SW can't fix it without more advanced cable (not just the charger).
