I bought this along with a Zeiss 55 1.8 for my Sony A7III knowing full well that it is a crop sensor camera. I wanted an inexpensive all-in-one zoom lens to go with my more expensive prime lens and I liked the variety this lens offered. The 18-200 is pretty good and as far as I know there are no full frame Sony lenses in this range. The closest is probably around 24-240, but close to $1,000 isn't really an option for those just starting out with their amateur photography gear. I bought this lens for a pretty decent price and would recommend going down that route if you're interested. I really had to test this lens during a trip to my local zoo. The autofocus was relatively fast. I would say that I have more goalkeepers than not. The A7III's excellent Animal Eye AF helped, of course. He's sharp enough. The megapixel loss from the crop sensor was really noticeable on some of my photos, but that's a compromise you make when going full frame. This is a lightweight lens built just like any other Tamron. More plastic than metal, but it doesn't feel like it's about to fall apart or anything. All in all, this is a decent "kit" lens that's not too bad even in full frame. However, note that it does not work in full format. lens mount will. If you agree, I would recommend this lens to start with and save money for something better.
