Bought the pink version of this for my 4 year old before we went to Yosemite National Park. This pair of sandals protects her toes really well, is very easy to care for and so easy to put on and take off. She could walk for hours on bumpy paths and never complained of pain in her legs, so I think it's very comfortable. However, she had to stop from time to time to shake the stones and sand out of the holes. Also, there were so many lakes and streams in the park; I could let her play in the water whenever she wanted, in her shoes, without worrying about her feet getting wet for the rest of the day. You can use them like beech shoes, but look a lot more stylish than classic Crocs, flip flops or those ugly mesh water sports shoes. With a firm back strap, they also hold better on children's feet.
