Ok I hope I can give you the most helpful feedback on this. The instructions for this monitor are pure rubbish and I reverse engineered everything from them to help you guys. So I bought a version of this monitor with a 7 inch rearview mirror. OK, in short. You have three wires for the monitor. Negative, positive and green for return trigger input. The camera does not automatically detect the video input to switch to the rear camera. It uses the switched positive input on the green wire to force the monitor to switch to the rear camera. What that means is pretty cool to me, at least because I intend to use this trigger for a passenger side blind spot camera with a positive turn signal output on the steering column. So! If you have this monitor set to hot ignition and turn off the car when you turn the ignition back on, you don't have to manually turn the monitor back on, it actually turns on to the last input you were viewing when you turned it on the last time you turned it off . If you have turned off the monitor when you turn off the key, the monitor will also turn off again when you turn on the key again. The video quality is very decent, especially for this resolution. Just be aware that you should get a decent camera, I bought the camera for $20 and it looks like complete rubbish compared to another $20 camera I bought from another seller at Revain. (Use this as a permanent backup camera and as a blind spot camera when triggered). There are two yellow composite RCA inputs. The male input is for AV1 and the female input is for AV2. The jack input for AV2 is also an input for a reversing camera. The monitor has brightness, contrast, hue and volume controls (which doesn't work but it works because there is no audio stream to adjust 😂😂) And the last part that I think is really cool, you can turn the image upside down put down. down if you need to mount the camera upside down. All settings are saved automatically and individually for each input. For $40 it's worth it. Haven't officially installed the monitor yet, I'm definitely not impressed with the spring-loaded mounting clips, but that's still fine for what this device is capable of. I plan to use VHT 3M double sided tape on the actual glass of my existing rearview mirror in combination with the spring clips. The monitor itself isn't very heavy and I don't feel like this causes the rearview mirror to sag when going over bumps, at least hopefully for me as my mirror is stiff! Give me a like if this helps so future buyers can see exactly how it works before they buy 👍👍👍
