Good printer; ridiculously expensive ink; Behind the scenes of the business practices

This is a good printer. I was happy with that until I made a serious mistake. I have allowed the printer to "update" its firmware. The new firmware checks something in the ink cartridge to see if it is "genuine" Epson ink. Now the printer refuses to accept completely high-quality (and much cheaper) ink cartridges from other manufacturers. As a result of this REAL trick, you can expect to pay a lot more REAL money for ink than you would for a printer. This is especially true because the piece of REAL junk you get from Epson is REALLY low in ink. I called Epson to see if the old firmware can be reinstalled. I was told it was impossible. Impossible? Does anyone really believe it? When someone calls Epson, the first thing the technician does is ask if they are using Epson 'genuine' ink. It doesn't matter if the problem is that the user has allowed the paper to deflate; The tech will still try to blame the lack of "GENUINE" Epson inks. If Epson inks are so much better than any other ink, why aren't they willing to compete fairly without that little blackmail?

Cons
