Was looking for a cheap mailbox to attach to house siding. Not so easy, sir. If you just put a couple of screws in the mounting holes and tighten them enough that the box doesn't want to come loose when you open the lid, you won't be able to open the lid all the way. The back of the lid is rounded, and when the back of the mailbox is mounted to a wall, the rounded edge touches the side wall about halfway. So at this point you have two options. You will either need to attach a piece of wood to the back of the mailbox to get the mailbox out of the panel or you can choose option 2 and bend the rounded edge with pliers or similar. Use fury to coat the metal or you'll chip the paint. I chose option 2 because I don't use it for official USPS purposes. It's more of an internal use. But anyway, why did you design it that way? Well I did the cheap part of the equation. Fast and just not very
