I have a legitimate ankle fracture, multiple ligament and tendon tears, two small tears. I bought this brace to buy myself time and delay an operation as long as possible while trying to get on with my life as a father, coach and player as much as possible. I wear size 9 shoes and bought medium braces. It works great if it's just a little big. It's not loose at all, rather I lace it up completely and wrap it up completely with no extra room. I tested the orthosis at full speed (at least for myself) and didn't twist my ankle again. I would 100% recommend these braces but with the caveat that they can be a bit large. It's also comfortable and fits in my shoes which is a big plus.
