Review on Sunlite 80541 Dimmable LED Bulb: Powerful Equivalent Lumens for Bright and Adjustable Lighting by Victor Ceja

Great bulbs, great replacement for my 75 watt halogen bulbs

I have some PAR 16 track lights in a room with high ceilings. Previously they were 75W halogen. Aside from the significant energy savings with these LEDs, I'm hoping they last a lot longer than intended as I quite often have to climb a tall ladder to replace previous halogens. Another issue is that the old 75 watt par 16s are not available locally, I have always had to order online. The old lamps were brand Sylvania Narrow Bay par16. I was looking for an LED version that was reasonably priced, looked good, and gave the same brightness and soft, non-glaring light. They are definitely on par (pun intended) with the price and brilliance of the old Sylvania Halogens. At first I had some concerns about the brightness as these Sunlite LEDs claim 500 lumens and the 75w halogen lamps claim 900 lumens. Bought initially just to test. To my eye they appear just as bright, an almost imperceptible difference in the light reaching the floor, walls and other surfaces when both are compared at the same time. They give off a slightly whiter light than halogens, but aren't glaring. Just saying if you're holding back because you're comparing lumens like I am, I don't think you'll see much of a difference in brightness. I had a similar issue replacing a halogen outdoor spotlight with an LED which didn't produce as many lumens but was just as bright if not brighter. I hope they have the expected lifespan, time will tell, but at least for now I'm satisfied with the brightness and quality of the light and the energy saving of about 1/10 compared to the old bulbs. The only thing I'd like to point out is that they seem to be a bit longer than the old Sylvania halogen bulbs, maybe 1/4 inch, sticking out a little further from the body. Their base may be different, but the Sylvania bulbs were about level with the rim while these stick out a bit more, but I don't mind that much. I still don't look into the light.
