Having been working from home for the last month I have upgraded all my gear. Sound was last on the list. My criteria were that it should be a 2.1 system, have an independent "subwoofer" volume control, have decent sound, and cost around $50. It wasn't easy like anything in this price range. has some but not all the features I wanted. I chose this unit because it meets my criteria and because I am familiar with CA, having had a smaller group of CA speakers for many years. So I knew what to expect. Not good. But right. This set turned out even better than expected. Not good. But right. The bass has some punch but lacks depth and richness. For me it is unreasonable to expect better performance at this price point. To get a little more power out of it, I first placed it with the connector pointing into a corner. However, the sound got muddy. I unzipped it and simply placed the port under the table facing me. This eliminated the muddyness and now it does what it was designed to do and deliver a fuller sound. The side speakers are very bright and clear, almost tinny. Since the "subwoofer" processes the low and middle frequencies, they do not require the full bandwidth. They are loud enough and can be serviced. With the help of an equalizer I was able to get these speakers and the "subwoofer" has been tuned to handle a wide range of music styles with decent bass and clarity of sound at high volumes. better than expected.
