The pre-installed cutting disc tends to deviate from the ruler and cut crooked/wavy lines. (Though my technique might be to blame.) It also took a lot of pressure on the blade to cut the photo paper I was trying to cut (the paper is heavy - 68 pounds of paper). I haven't tried the extra blade that came with the kit. On the plus side, the safety mechanism for retracting the blade when not in use works very well and is a nice feature. So I bought a standard X-Acto straight blade knife. and there were no problems with it. It lacks the safety feature of the olfa blade but it cuts well so I now use the x-acto knife and no longer use the olfa blade.
