Japanese instructions

I was happy to get this for my sewing projects but very disappointed that all the instructions are in Japanese. I know it's pretty easy to use, but I still like to read the instructions fully before using it, especially since I need to convert it to left-handed use. Searching the web for instructions in English is an extra step that doesn't impress me.

Great for cutting fabric - much safer than Fiskars

Just bought this new quilt fabric cutter. It is extremely easy to use and very secure. It locks into place if you want, or you can just squeeze the handle and it will start cutting and then retract when you let go of the handle. I left my Fiskars cutting knife open all the time and was afraid I would misread it and cut myself. With Olfa this is almost impossible. I also had problems changing blades on Fiskars. While I haven't tried replacing the blade with an olfa, it looks pretty easy and…

Amazing quality and features

I bought this at the beginning of Covid when there were no spare blades for cutting knives. I was desperate and bought this whole set to get a good blade. Turns out I like this cutter more than my original one. First, it has the function of switching to the left side. It is convenient to use. The blade is very sharp. There is a very good security system. Long story short, I use this all the time and keep my Fiskars cutter in my sewing basket somewhere.

Excellent quilt rotary knife from Japan!

This circle cutter is easy to use but be careful it is very sharp. It's expensive, but you get your money's worth. I have lived in Japan for almost 18 years and products made in Japan are unmatched in superior quality, with the exception of knives. German knives (F Dick 1905 series) are better and superior to the Japanese ones. Try it and you won't be disappointed. Overall I highly recommend all Olfa products if they are made in Japan.

Pros
  • Sewing
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

The pre-installed cutting disc tends to deviate from the ruler and cut crooked/wavy lines. (Though my technique might be to blame.) It also took a lot of pressure on the blade to cut the photo paper I was trying to cut (the paper is heavy - 68 pounds of paper). I haven't tried the extra blade that came with the kit. On the plus side, the safety mechanism for retracting the blade when not in use works very well and is a nice feature. So I bought a standard X-Acto straight blade knife. and there…
