Theoretically Excellent in Waffle Makers

I was excited to get my new waffle maker but. However, I was a bit disappointed with some features. Firstly it tells you NOT to use spray or oil on it as they say spray oil can build up and cause sticking. It says it's a non-stick surface and you don't need to use a spray. When I first used it I didn't use the spray. What a bloody mess! The waffle got stuck in all the slots of the waffle maker and also burned. It was fun choosing everything. NOT! And let's not forget to mention what a terrible mess you have to clean up! If you have batter that puffs up like many types of batter do, or if you're using eggs and making shuffles, it will overflow the edge of the waffle iron and then overflow. on the sides and above the tabletop! It gives you a measuring cup that shows the maximum amount you can put in, but it doesn't account for the fact that some mixes bulge a little. And god forbid batter gets caught around the spout or on the sides of the spout because where it screws in there is a very deep slot that the batter is almost impossible to get out of. I've been scratching and scrubbing and poking and poking but I couldn't get all the dough out of that crack! If you butter it and pour the batter in very, very carefully, being careful not to put in so much that it spills out, it will make a decent waffle. However, I've had waffle makers that were easier to clean and with fewer problems than this one. I would give it 2 to 3 stars out of 5. Not exactly a winner in my book.
