Review on Maxpow Compatible Integra Struts Supports by Alan Massey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

They worked, with brief interruptions.

When I first tried to install gas struts there were a few concerns. Because they are turned upside down first. The originals have a cylinder at the bottom, these have a cylinder at the top. Otherwise they work great. But the instructions are useless. E clip is no problem. He went easy and came back pretty easy. The problem was at the end of the ball. New racks come with a small plastic bag with ball fittings and a new E-clamp. DO NOT LOAD THE NEW BALL INTO THE RACK FIRST! Using the supplied white washer, screw the ball into the car until it stops. THEN attach the E=Clip. Then have someone hold the tailgate until it lines up with the ball and bang the post against the ball with a plastic mallet or fist. And you're all set. If you jump off the gun and snatch the ball first, it's almost impossible to hurl it into the car. You need to take a small screwdriver, stick it under the clip on the back and pry up slightly (do not remove completely). Then have someone else pull the bar away from the ball. I used a vise to hold the nut portion of the ball. DO NOT CLAMP THE BALL! The posts hold the goal very well.
