I have never used wood spatula so I read reviews of several products and this product got the highest rating. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was really easy to use. You can use a spatula or even your fingers. It doesn't try too fast, so you can apply it to multiple areas and still have time to come back to smooth it out and clean up your lines. It doesn't smell, so don't worry. It is easy to clean with water. I have a nut color, dark in a jar and lightening as it dries. It says it can be stained or painted but I didn't want to mess with it because it was just a stain on the underside of the vanity that no one would see. So I took one of those dark brown scratch markers and just drew it in with a marker. It worked like a charm!
