Review on Bilstein 24 139106 Front Shock Durango by Travis Karren

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great progress! best in shocks

I recently bought a 2008 Chrysler Aspen. A good car, but driving on bumpy stretches of the interstate was just plain scary at times. The suspension sometimes threw me onto the next lane. Scared me to death the first time I tried it, and it's from someone who's won multiple amateur road racing titles, so I don't usually feel uncomfortable driving it. The car's shocks looked relatively new when I bought it, but they were the cheapest Monroe shocks money can buy. I replaced the fronts with Bilsteins and mounted a Monroe Sensa-Trac on the rear (much better than the cheap Monroes). I used them in the rear instead of Bilstein's everywhere because I'm towing a trailer and these shocks have a built in assist spring. I rode them for about a week to see the difference they made and then put Bilsteins up front today. The Bilsteins definitely help the car feel a lot more stable at speed. I used to feel like I had to constantly adjust the steering, even sometimes on flat roads. I assumed all SUVs would twitch a bit due to their higher center of gravity and relatively short wheelbase, but the car feels a lot more stable with Bilsteins. The new rear shocks fixed a big surprise I experienced on rough, fast roads, but the Bilstein fronts were the icing on the cake. Together they should make towing a trailer a lot less painful.
