My first impression is how small it is. I didn't notice the size and only bought this model because an internet personality suggested it for my needs. It has a mesh screen that diffuses the light and you can see the LEDs around the edge. As I adjusted the color, I noticed that the cool white LEDs dimmed and the warm white LEDs lit up in between. I counted 58 cool and warm white LEDs in case you're wondering as I don't remember seeing the number of LEDs in the description. For me, 4400K and 4500K are the brightest temperatures, since all 116 LEDs mentioned light up at the same time. I can feel the change in color quality at 4400K as I move up to 4500K at all brightness levels. I can't feel a 100% change in brightness, but I think I see a change in brightness going from 4400K to 4500K at 20% brightness. I'm sure it's perception, so I'm sure it's not a real problem. The cold shoe is threaded which I was able to mount on a tripod I already have but I think a quick release would be a good investment. This allows me to take it off faster when disassembling, but that's my first impression of the cold shoe tripod combo. There's a large dial on the side of the hot shoe for attaching to the camera shoe or other accessory adapter, which I think will come in handy when I move it onto the hot shoe. The extra size gives me more leverage and hopefully keeps me from looking for pliers to get the leverage I need. to remove it. I personally appreciate the notch on top that keeps the light in place. When I screw it onto the bracket I can see it coming loose from the axle. The axle can be adjusted 180 degrees and is held in place with a large wing nut. The mounting screw is inside the rectangular block and its rotation pulls the lantern to the top of the bracket. Simple but effective but I can see it's too tight and needs those pliers to pull it apart. I find the grooves are deep and spaced enough apart to ensure I don't need these pliers and can do it with my bare hands. I decided to buy the suggested power supply which seems too short to me, about 3ft. We have some 5.5mm x 2.1mm connector extensions so I can move the light there. where I need it without buying additional cables at the moment. The fork sits snugly in the body, which I appreciate, although, as I said, it's too short. I plan to buy batteries but have decided to keep them until I have a chance to test them out to make sure they meet my needs. My main disadvantage is that it doesn't have a remote control, but at this price I can buy 2 of them for the price of 1 remote control.
