I know optical media will be gone soon, but it's more convenient to use BluRay discs for archiving large video projects that won't clutter up your hard drives/SSDs. I do TONS of video editing, but most uncompressed projects can be around 50GB and I want to be able to back up those projects in case I need them again. I had a Samsung BluRay Writer and it lasted two years before it gave up the ghost. I trust Verbatim with my BluRay discs, so I trust them and their drive. In terms of the drive aspects, I like it so far: it delivers 6x the write speed and a lot less than most other drives on the market, making it perfect for on the go. Haven't tried burning M-Discs yet but I assume this works great since it's also advertised. At the time of this writing (September 23, 2018) this burner has 3.5 stars on Amazon and deserves at least a 4.5 because it does everything you could want from a BluRay burner and even more because it's very quiet and is very thin.
