You will need a cymbal holder for this - definitely NOT waterproof.

I had high hopes for them but they didn't live up to expectations. They are fine for normal everyday use, but you will definitely want to use these plastic (or bamboo) cymbal holders as these cymbals are not that durable and definitely not waterproof. they were soaked: lettuce lightly dressed with creamy ranch dressing; Swedish meatballs with pasta and minimal gravy; Nachos with seasoned ground beef, cheese, fresh salsa, and sour cream; and this morning scrambled eggs, sausage and mashed potatoes. It's not as bad as some of the cheaper uncoated paper plates, but if the product description says 'soak', that presumably means most types of sauces and thicker dressings/sauces won't show up on the bottom of the plate. . And once the substance is absorbed, the "cut resistance” disappears too. I would be VERY hesitant to serve anything "soupy" like spaghetti with marinara sauce or (God forbid!) actual soup or stew. Also, they're not that strong. I've been using 9-inch plates so far - and even with 5 small (1-inch) meatballs + about 1/2 cup cooked pasta + about 3/4 cup lightly dressed green salad, I had to use both hands. Lift the plate, otherwise it would bend. To be honest, this thing didn't weigh at all. A cymbal holder is essential if you want to hold a cymbal with one hand. It's good for sandwiches and fries, maybe even potato salad if it's not too runny. I would be careful with coleslaw or other salad dressings. in general they are fine; Just keep in mind that they are not very different from "everyday" plates. I use what I bought for lighter "dry" dishes (sandwiches, rolls, etc.) and for everything else I use stronger and heavier plates. Three stars.
