Much cheaper and much better looking Sportster turn signal relocation kit

This was a really cheap solution to relocating the front turn signals on my 2007 Sportster Nightster. I did this because I wanted to "flip" my mirrors so I could mount them under the handlebars instead of above, giving the bike a sleeker look. Unfortunately, the standard front turn signal mounts are integrated into the handlebar switch assemblies that also mount the mirrors, and on the right side of the bike, an inverted mirror will not disable the turn signal. Harley has a turn signal relocation kit that sells for over $30 if I remember correctly, that puts the turn signals on rods that protrude from the lower fork triple clamp. While this solves the problem, it doesn't look good in my opinion. These brackets allowed me to position the turn signals at the same height as the headlight and closer to the headlight. I have attached some photos. The first two show what the bike looks like now with the mirrors reversed, the tie rods installed and the turn signals relocated. The third detailed photo shows how the round indicators are mounted next to the fork strut. The fourth photo shows what the bike looked like with the brake rods installed, but before the mirror was rotated and the turn signal moved. Too bad there wasn't a better front shot. Now the only thing protruding above the steering wheel is a single speedo/speedometer and in my opinion it looks great. These brackets came with screws and washers to attach the turn signals to the clamps. I left out the spacers and used two stainless steel washers with a lock washer in between for a secure fit and to keep the turn signals as close to the forks as possible, which looks best to me. The screws that come with the clips fit the mounting threads in the turn signal housings, but I bought a shorter one from my local hardware store. I think the originals would fit and I know they will work if you use the spacers that came with the kit. To attach the clamps to the fork legs without disassembling anything else, I had to thread in one bolt with the clamp rotated on the fork leg, tighten fully, then rotate the clamp to its final position and thread in the other bolt. and tighten the clamp by tightening the second screw. It took some thought because there were no instructions, but it's not that difficult to figure out. The wiring to the turn signal assemblies was long enough without modification and I used black zip ties to reroute the wiring. Everything worked great. Incidentally, I had no issues with the clips being scratched or marked when I received them and each was individually wrapped in plastic to protect its finish.

Pros
  • Clamps fit 39mm fork tubes
Cons
  • Not bad
