My fuel gauge started going haywire and a few weeks later the check engine light came on. Testing this told me that fuel sensor "A" was at fault, so I knew the one on the driver's side was bad. I bought the kit of 2 sensors and o-rings, but changed just the driver's side, which solved the fuel gauge problem after a few tanks of gas. I don't know why the delay in working properly. Other reviewers had said that sometimes the check engine light would result in engine shut-off, so I minimized driving until after the sensor had been replaced. I bought this tool because it looked like I could easily tear something up if I tried to rotate the lock ring with a hammer and chisel, plus a spark could blow everything to smithereens. After using this tool, I must admire those who rotated the ring with hammer and chisel, as it's really difficult to turn. The lock ring tool appears to be cast steel, and it fit perfectly. Be sure to thoroughly vacuum all dust from the ring area before unlocking it, or debris will fall into the gas tank. It took a 4-ft long pipe on my breaker bar and a little oil on each locking tang, to rotate the ring. Replacing the sensor was the easiest task, and now I know how to replace the fuel pump, too. Reinstalling the lock ring, with new o-ring and some oil on the ring tabs, was just as difficult as getting it off. But there are stops to prevent over-rotation as it suddenly Whams into place. The tool still looks like new, despite the large forces on the small ears that engage the lock ring. I spent a hundred dollars on the lock ring and sensors, learned how to take out the rear seats and the fuel pump, and saved six hundred in dealer cost, so it was a good day. When it goes bad, I will replace the second sensor without hesitation, now that I have the tool, the sensor, and the knowhow, in much less time.
